Plympton 321 | Issue#1 .....117 Subscribers, 0 noise!🚀
Welcome to the first edition. This one is a little longer than usual, I wanted to set the stage for why we’re here. Please read to the bottom as there is a little call to action for you all :-)
I started this because I was tired of scrolling through 47,000 Facebook followers just to find out what’s actually happening in our town. The goal is simple: 07:30 AM (ish!!) every Thursday, you get the “3-2-1” email in your inbox. Please do share this with your friends and family, the more people we have registered the more we can spread the word.
As we grow, I’m also working behind the scenes to secure exclusive discounts and perks from Plympton traders specifically for our subscribers. Supporting local shouldn’t just feel good, it should be worth your while.
A quick note: None of the below are paid adverts. These are simply events or things we’ve chosen to share. We will always be honest if anything is an advert.
🏛️The 3 Events
1. The “Light Up Plympton” Quiz Night
Plympton Conservative Club, Friday, April 10th | 19:30 Start
We all know how touch-and-go it was for our Christmas Lights last year. Let’s get behind the organisers and ensure this year's goes ahead. Expect local trivia that might even stump a lifelong Plymptonian. Teams of 4–6 recommended.
Booking is essential:
2. Lego at Plympton Library
Saturday, April 11th | 10:00 - 12:30
Got a big imagination in the house? The Library's Lego and Duplo club is one of the best free resources we have in PL7. Head down to see what the next generation of Plympton architects is building.
Full details here Lego at Plympton Library | PLYMOUTH.GOV.UK
Suitable for children over 5 years accompanied by a parent/guardian.
3. Fancy something a little different?
Harewood House, Saturday, April 11th | 11:00 - 16:00
Fancy something a little different? Wild Tribe Events are gathering a full hall of healers, readers, and spiritual sellers. Free entry for all.
💎 The 2 Gems
1. The Plympton “Castle Hill” Sunset Walk
Most people just see the ruins from the road, but the real gem is the walk up the bank at dusk. It’s the highest point in the immediate area with a 360-degree view of the town and out toward the Moors.
The Experience: It’s short, it’s historic, and if the weather holds, it’s the best “free” view in PL7. Perfect for clearing the head after a long week.
2. Plympton Cricket Club
Most people miss this, but the sun is out and season is starting! They have a bar, a kids academy on a Friday evening and a friendly this weekend on Sunday. Full details can be found here Plympton CC.
Such a friendly club and well worth a visit.
💡 The 1 Tip: The “Local £5” Challenge
This isn’t a parking trick, it’s a town trick. If every adult in Plympton spent just £5 a week in a local independent shop instead of online or at a big supermarket, it would put millions back into our local economy.
The Challenge: This weekend, spend your “Local £5” on the Ridgeway or at any PL7 independent.
The Call to Action: When you do, take a quick photo of your coffee, your pasty, or your receipt and post it in the Facebook group with the tag #Plympton321. Let’s show our local traders some noise
Thank you for your support, lets create the community asset we all really need! Please do invite your friends and family.
